A round on a computer: the board of gems with five animal cards pinned on it, the evidence grid beside it

How a round works

  1. Pick a continent

You get five look-alike animals from there. One of them is the one the camera saw.

The globe, with each continent and how many animals live there
  2. Match gems to answer questions

Each yes-or-no question fills with 20 matching gems. You have 30 moves a round.

A round on a phone: five look-alike animals in the evidence grid, their cards pinned on a board of gems
  3. Rule out the look-alikes

Check each animal's field guide against the answers. Rule out the wrong one and it escapes.

The Aye-aye's field guide, open over the grid: its photo, its signs and its answers to the questions

Every find goes in your journal

Finds glow on the globe, and the Field Journal keeps each one's range map and facts. A trail is 5 rounds and 3 hearts.

The globe with the two finds marked in Africa, and Africa's row saying 2 found
The Field Journal with 2 of 76 animals found, the Aye-aye and the Aardvark, each with its range map and facts
The round-end card: found it, the Aye-aye, with its family tree and the evidence lined up

76 real animals, all sourced

Facts from the IUCN Red List, Animal Diversity Web and other ranked sources. Photos from Wikimedia Commons, credited on every card.

So far 50 mammals, 15 amphibians and 11 reptiles.
